Deathwatch by Robb White Deathwatch was written by Robb White born June 20 1909 Published in 1972 is was one of his 21 books that he would write in his lifetime Robb based most of his books upon personal experience and having 8 jobs In his life he has had some interesting life experiences Robb even attributes his writing to discipline and not to pure talent or skill Everynight after work he came home and wrote from 8 oclock until 2 oclock in the morning Deathwatch has only 2 main characters which are the antagonist and the protagonist Survival and the will to live drive the characters even with the chances so high against them they give everything they have and more to survive Set place in the Montana Mountains Ben and Madec fight for their lives but not from nature themselves or society they fight each other Ben is a student wishing to go to college to he has a job to help for for this He is a hunting guide in the Montana Mountains where he grew up as a child Madec is a wealthy business man that wants to bag himself a bighorn sheep or 2 When Ben is asked to accompany Madec in his hunting trip he thinks it will be like any other hunting trip but he is mistaken This book reflects American Soceity because Ben is like the American people and Madec is like the government At the beginning of the hunting trip Ben assumes everything is under control and that everything is going as planned When something happens Ben realizes that Madec is actually a lot stronger than he is and is ordered around by Madec Everyday citizens often under estimate the power of the government in a whole As the book continues Ben is bossed around not knowing what is going on or what to do while Madec is in complete control and
