Eudora Weltys character Sister in Why I live at the PO has many characteristics None of are them very good She is jealous self-absorbed and rude She does not think about how what she does affects anyone but her Welty may have been trying to create a figure one could feel sorry for but it did not come across that way to me Sister is jealous of Stella-Rondo She thinks Stella stole her boyfriend Mr Whitaker by telling him that she was one-sided She says she was with him first and Stella lied about Sister to get him She is very happy when Stella-Rondo comes home without him She thinks Stella has gotten what she deserved She may also be a little jealous of Stella-Rondos daughter Although Stella says Shirley-T is adopted Sister thinks she is Mr Whitakers and she might be jealous of what could have been She is also jealous of the way the family welcomes Stella-Rondo back in to the family with her child She thinks if it had been her they would not have been as nice Her mama tells her that is not true but Sister does not believe her Sister is very self-absorbed She thinks only of herself When Stella-Rondo comes home with a child and no husband in sight all she cares about is having to stretch Kanthak 2 two chickens between five people and a baby She does not care that her sister may be hurting or sad Sister also thinks she has to do everything around the house with no help She makes green tomato pickle because someone has to do it She feels that she is not appreciated as she should be She does not think of anyone but herself She is also very rude She makes remarks about Stellas child and where she came from She implies that Shirley-T cannot talk She does not think of how her words will
