Why would anyone want to see a movie that came out 20 years ago Probably most people wouldnt However this movie Star Wars the Special Edition is a classic that has been updated for the 1990s The new Star Wars has new special effects a more realistic home planet and better sound The first Star Wars movie had great special effects but they werent as good as todays special effects because now theres new computer technology In the new Star Wars the spacecrafts are more realistic-looking because they are images created by a computer rather than actual models So they have been given more details than the original spacecrafts and they can fly and maneuver better A good example of this improvement is shown near the end of the movie when the Rebel Fleet attacks the Death Star The attack is a lot more realistic for two reasons There are a lot more rebel ships and the ships can twist and swoop better when theyre fighting the Imperial ships The ships can do these things because they are produced by a computer Luke Skywalkers home is the city of Mos Eisley It used to look like there wasnt much going on there Now it looks busy with a lot more people creatures and robots walking around on the streets Also there are many more spacecraft taking off landing and flying overhead The effect is that the city looks more believable The sound of the new Star Wars has been digitized -- it has improved in several ways Explosions sound bigger The exhaust sounds from the flying spacecraft are louder and actually sound like theyre swooshing Also voices and noises in the movie seem to come from your right or left side which is a more realistic effect The changes in the new Star Wars have made it so good that I cant wait to see the new release of the two
