I have always felt sympathy and compassion for senior citizens that I have met at resting homes I feel for the people who sit alone without any family but I never did anything about it I guess I figured someone else would I did not take the time to really think about the depth of their pain Then I thought the day I was visiting my Aunt Olga at the Hospice what if I did take a moment out of my busy schedule to simply say hello to someone that has no family or stop and chat with someone eating alone And I didI spent day in and day out visiting with Aunt While I was visiting for several hours I would stop in each room and chat with the men and women I helped the Hospice each day with bringing wheel chairs down to the events that were held One night I danced and sung for a group of women This activity took place in a room right near my aunt My aunt was unable to move from the bed but she heard me and she was ecstatic She had a smile that sparkled from ear to ear and was proud that I was helping other sick people enjoy there last months of life My goal was to make them happy and have fun During this time I met a very wonderful women named Helen She was very old and blind Helen was ornery the majority of the time but I felt I had a special bond with her I sat with her every other day and talked to her One day I brought her chocolate chip cookies and she loved them Helen made me laugh She had a million smiles She had a sneaky devious smile She had a cute smile and she also had a blissful smile that made me smile whenever I was blue It was a unique smile that nobody
