In the article Unmasking Poverty Bob Herbert talks about the hidden problems faced in the economy Herbert talks about how the news and other sources say how the economy is booming how unemployment rates are down with the creation of millions of jobs and how crime is down He points out the government is making it seem that everything is great when there are still many problems in the less populated towns that are not as big and noticeable as the large cities such as Philadelphia and New York When reading this article the author made very good points that made me think about things that were not brought to my attention or a lot of our nations attention He pointed out how great the real big cities are and then he mentioned a city like Yakima Washington that I never heard of before Since I never heard of it I am not aware nor do I care what goes on there This seems to be the same for a lot of people If you are not made aware of a problem it will not get solved This author is addressing the problem and making it known to the people This will make more people look at things differently The authors position will make other people realize what is going on and try to help make it better Some of the big problems in American cities are even bigger problems in the little towns right out side of them It does not seem fair that just because they do not have big city resources and big city news stories that they should go unnoticed I think that each city and town should have equal opportunities They should be in equal proportion to population A little town does not need as much as a big city but they do have the same problems and needs It may not be solved with his one
