Lisa Bright and Dark By John Neufield The book I read was Lisa Bright and Dark by John Neufield This book is about three girls named Betsy Elizabeth and Mary Nell MN trying to help their friend Lisa Shilling get control of herself or get some professional help Lisa is having trouble with her mind and her parents dont think that she needs help So Mary Nell Elizabeth and Betsy decide to make their own counseling sessions with Lisa At first the idea works then it goes downhill from there One day during one of the sessions Betsys father walks in and everyone says hi even Lisa who hadnt been talking for the last week but then something strange happens Lisa gets up and walks toward the glass porch doors that are closed and walks straight through the glass Lisa is bleeding from her head and many other places on her body When Lisas mother arrives she gets mad at Elizabeth and slaps her then Elizabeth slaps her back Mrs Shilling is outraged and accuses the girls of making Lisa do it and tells the girls never to speak with Lisa again When Lisa still didnt receive any help Elizabeth got her old doctor from when she had had a similar disease to Lisas His name was Dr Donovan Dr Donovan was a handsome older man around 38 While the doctor was at Elizabeths house he read an article in the paper about Lisa and she had taken some barbiturates and had to go to the hospital That finally made the Shillings realize that their daughter had a problem So they sent Lisa away to stay with Dr Donovan and receive professional help Betsy went to visit with Lisa a lot during the summer but the other girls could only go every so often The part I liked the most about this particular book was the ending when Lisa finally got
