Metamorphosis a change in form function or appearance In Ovids book Metamorphosis he includes many myths that go through some sort of change during the course of the story Two of the myths Pyramus and Thisbe and Dedalus and Icarus go through changes in the flow of the story making them apt to be included in Ovids book One of the major changes in the story of Pyramus and Thisbe occurs when the two young lovers finally decide to meet outside In the story Pyramus and Thisbe are very much in love In spite of this their parents forbid their love and try to keep them apart The only place they can talk to each other is through a crack in the wall Day after day they meet at the same place without being able to see each other rather comforting each other with their voices Finally one day they decide not to put up with this anymore In the story it says Pyramus and Thisbe Met at the usual place and first in whispers Complained and came high time to a decision That night when all was quiet they would fool Their guardians or try to come outdoors l 28-32 This decision of theirs changes the whole outcome of the story Instead of them living happily ever after it ultimately causes their death Another important change that arises in the story is the change in color of the mulberry fruit In the beginning of the story Ovid describes the fruit of the tree It says a mulberry tree loaded with snow-white berries l 37 Shortly after the young lovers meet outside there is a misunderstanding on the part of Pyramus He sees Thisbes bloody veil and presumes that the lioness has killed her This devastating loss makes him commit suicide Later Thisbe finds out what Pyramus has done and decides to kill herself too While she was dying she was praying to
