In the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare there were many characters whose presence was essential Other than the main character Olivia played an important role She has a key role in the conflict of the main plot As well as many of the sub-plots Olivia is involved in the love plot more than any other plot Duke Orsino is very much in love with her Even though he has not really seen or actually talked to her about the subject Orsino is very much in love with her He has made many attempts to gain her love but they barely worked When Olivia went into mourning Orsino attempted to gain her love again by sending over Cesario That only led to more difficulty to gain her love After Olivia met Cesario she started to fall for him She saw that he was a caring and sensitive man Olivia kept on wanting to see Cesario again so she sent her servant after himher She had her servant Malvolio bring Cesario a ring That gave her the idea that she loved her Duke Orsino was not the only man in love with Olivia Sir Andrew also loved her He had been in love with her for quite some time but was never able to acquire her While Olivia was falling in love with Cesario Sir Andrew was becoming jealous He didnt like the fact that Cesario was getting so much attention from the women he wanted Another man that fell in love with Olivia was Malvolio This is the plot that Olivia was unaware of her involvement She had no idea of what was happening to her servant but without her that plot would not be possible The letters sent to Malvolio by Maria were in Olivias handwriting According to Malvolio they said how much she loved him After reading the letters Malvolio began to fall in love with her Overall Olivia is
