The Circle of Life I am the rose of sharon and the lily of the valleys As the lily among thorns so is my love among the daughters As the apple tree among the trees of the wood so is my beloved among the sons I sat down under his shadow with great delight and his fruit was sweet to my taste He brought me to the banqueting house and his banner over me was loveSolomon 21-4 John Steinbeck refers to passages in the bible throughout the Grapes of Wrath He shows that everyone has a family no matter what even if he or she is not blood related Everyone comes together and creates a circle a circle of life Rose of Sharon had a stillborn but she still has milk from her breasts They go for shelter and see a boy kneeling next to his papa The man is starving but can not hold down solid food Rose of Sharon knows what she has to do and knows what is right She leans down and lets the man have the milk As the man drinks a mysterious smile appears on her face Rose of Sharon is considered the completion of the life cycle and helps the survival of another In giving a part of herself to a stranger she experienced a spiritual movement that extends beyond herself and unifies her with the vast human family She gives herself to a stranger and realizes we are all part of a larger community in which life-giving resources are shared Useta be the fambly was fust It aint so now Its anybody Worse off we get the more we got to do Rose of Sharon sharing her milk to help someone in need shows she is willing to share what she has which is not much with others around her if it will help Two are better that one because they get a good
