The Count of Monte Cristo Alexandre Dumas The Count of Monte Cristo is an incredible story that combines adventure revenge and suspense It takes you through the incredible life of Edmond Dantes At 19 years old Dantes lives almost the perfect life He is engaged to a beautiful woman he is about to become the captain of a ship and he is well liked by almost everyone who knows him His perfect life draws jealously from some of his so-called friends especially his best friend Fernand Mondego Fernand is in love with Dantes fianc and envies his success Fernand Danglars and Caderousse draft a letter accusing Dantes of treason On the day of his wedding Dantes is arrested for his supposed crimes Dantes is sent to prison for life at the notorious Chateau dIf While in prison Dantes meets Abbe Faria a priest and scholar Faria teaches Dantes everything he knows turning him into a well-educated man Faria and Dantes meticulously plan for escape The next day the priest tells Dantes about a hidden treasure on the island of Monte Cristo and tells him how to find it if he ever escapes When Faria dies Dantes comes up with an incredible plan to set himself free He sews himself into the shroud that was supposed to carry the priest away and instead the guards carry Dantes out and throw him into the ocean After swimming for days Dantes comes upon a group of smugglers that take him in After arriving on the island of Monte Cristo Dantes again uses his knowledge to come up with another plan to ditch the smugglers He pretends to injure himself and his best friend on the ship Jacopo decides to stay with him on the island When the smugglers come back to pick up Dantes he fills his pocket with a few precious stones and later buys a boat and crew for Jacopo Jacopo goes and finds out
