The Effects of UFOs on PeopleBy Steve Edwards Almost every civilization in history that has kept a writtenhistory has recorded the sightings of strange objects and lights in the skiesThese objects have been described as glowing wheels colored balls of lightand disk shaped objects Today unexplained aerial phenomena are generallyreferred to as unidentified flying objects UFOs or flying saucers The effects of extra terrestrial sightings can have anadverse effect on people if influenced the wrong way No solid proof hasshown that UFOs are real but many sightings cannot be proven otherwiseThe media stories or ones own experience may often influence what onebelieves The government once stated that they had captured extra terrestrials60 minutes CBS On the contrary most scientists now agree that almostall sightings and stories of extra terrestrials are not authenticThe United States government has records of thousands of UFO sightings since1948 including photos of alleged UFOs and interviews with people who claimto have seen them Since UFOs were considered a potential security riskthe report on these sightings was originally classified as secret Craig917 When the report was later declassified it showed that 90 percent ofall UFO sightings could be easily explained Most of the sightings turnedout to be celestial objects such as stars or bright planets like Venusor atmospheric events such as auroras or meteors falling through the atmosphereMany other sightings turned out to be objects such as weather balloonssatellites aircraft lights or formations of birds Often these sightingswere accompanied by unusual weather conditions Only 56 percent of thesecases were not explainedTestimonies by people are often very inaccurate and dramatized People havethe tendency to explain everything they see which is not usually completelyaccurate The unaided human eye can be tricked into hallucination and hasan inaccurate depth perception Reflections from windows and eyeglasses canprovide an optical illusion of a UFO Radar is much more reliable to identifyobjects but it cannot detect many characteristics that separate naturalphenomena and physical objects Radar often picks up ionized
