Tuan Phan Response Essay Final Revised Draft Solitary Life Today with online chatting more and more people are communicating and interacting with one another around the world People are avoiding the sad and boring sides of solitary life But in the essay The Rewards of Living a Solitary Life May Sarton wrote that she feels free to express her feelings thoughts and not worry about anything else when shes alone She also feels that loneliness is most acutely felt with other people because of the fear of hurting others P 39 Sarton claims that loneliness is not in any way negative but rather positively rewarding Like her I too believe that people can add more freedom and sincerity to their personhood in the solitary life First May Sarton said that people could have more freedom in solitude than in society When people must socialize with others they suffer from different taste and emotional feeling in the social interaction as opposed to in solitude She claims that people have different perspective and feelings So in the communications of social life other people feel pressured Basically we all have to worry about the criticism of the society but in reality our freedoms are limited I once had the same experience as her when I was young I did not live alone In my interaction with my family and friends I had to endure their different opinions and behavior My behavior and actions needed to be adapted to meet their expectation and needs But I wished for a solitary life like Ms Sarton My desires came true after I graduated from high school and headed off to college I rented a small inexpensive apartment and lived a really independent life enjoying the way of life as expected For once in my lifetime I can feel the freedom of being able to eat live dress and act according to my own personality without being pressured by others
