Among the many different family of monkey that walks this earth the Chimpanzee is the closest living relative of human beings Between the two species lies the most striking resemblances such a biochemical physiological and anatomical as well as behavioral In addition to these similarities the Chimpanzees life cycle is not much different from that of a human The chimpanzee goes through a seven years childhood which is followed by a period of maturity As in the case of the female in the wild becomes capable of producing offspring at the age of 11 to 13 years old The male chimpanzee also reaches the age of sexual maturity at about the same age as the female chimps Even though that male becomes sexually mature it would be another two to three years before he is fully integrated or accepted in the society of adult males His maximum weight which ranges between 105 to 121 pounds is not attained until he reaches the age of 20 years old Both male and female chimpanzee that are in captivity reaches sexual maturity much earlier and also gains weight much faster Chimps that are in the age group of 35 to 40 years old are considered to be at the beginning of old age whereas the greatest age of chimpanzees in the zoo is approximately 55 years old which is approximately a difference of 15 to 20 years Like humans these creatures are able to contract infectious disease that are found in men illnesses like infantile paralysis and pneumonia are often found in these animals As is becoming clear that the chimps intellectual capacity in on a far higher level than was formerly supposed by researchers all over the world Many of these researchers that have worked with chimpanzees unanimously reports that the animals expressions of feelings are similar to that of humans emotions such as Joy Grief Curiosity Fear Rage etc
