In this novel called The Giver written by Lois Lowry the author creates a perfect world known as the Community In the community everything is perfect There is no poverty and all the meals are delivered to them Every home has a family unit with a max of only two children And nobody ever has the same name Everyone gets items at the same age like a bicycle at the age of seven and an assignment also known as a job at the age of twelve In this world there are no feelings passion or unpredicatability Also there are no individual celebrations bad memories to learn from and no hatred Having no hatred means not having any love There is no freedom of choice In this novel Jonas is selected to be The Receiver of Memories During his training he quickly realizes that there is no freedom colour or feelings and then he decides that his world needed it Without freedom there is not a point at all to live in it Therefore it is not perfect During Jonas training he discovers that the changes he has been seeing was colour and wants this for his community The first colour he started to see was red He first saw it when he was throwing around an apple with Asher Next he started seeing the red tones of skin in peoples faces at the Ceremony of Twelve Then he saw it in his friend Fionas hair Later on Jonas starts seeing all of the colours and enjoys the colour red It was so-oh I wish language were more precise The red was so beautiful I see all of them All the colors Lowry 95 As Jonas realizes that the colours are so beautiful he wishes that he could share them with the rest of the community The reason why Jonas wants to share them with the rest of the community is because he believes that
