NOTE Maybe want to change introduction paragraph to one of thousands of stories available all over the web or news etc I actualy recieved this info from a friend On November 18 2001 Erin Klotz a 20 year old student at Central Washington University at the time was killed by a drunk driver She was returning home to college after attending a music-teaching camp in Los Angeles California She had dreams of being a musician and conductor After flying in to Sea-Tac airport she was planning on taking a bus back to school Instead she ran into a friend from school and was offered a ride She accepted The two girls were traveling east-bound on Interstate 90 when a Sport Utility Van driven by Debra Acey slammed into them near North Bend The crash instantly killed Erin and seriously injured her friend Ms Acey was traveling west in the east-bound lane at a speed of 100 miles per hour She had a blood alcohol content level equal to four times the legal limit of 08 She also had two prior convictions for driving under the influence Kuss This story of Erin was provided to me by a friend referring to her niece Indeed it is a sad story- It is one of thousands of sad stories that families and friends of the victims deal with every year Weve all seen the signs on the side of the highway in memory of yet another victim of drinking and driving Weve all read the stories in the newspaper or seen them on the nightly news According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 17013 alcohol related fatalities across America in 2003 This number averages out to about one death every 30 minutes and makes up 40 of total fatalities The numbers havent changed much in the last 10 years either In 1994 there were 17308 fatalities which made up 43 of total
