After reading this book that dealt with Frederick Douglass life it is hard to imagine that someone could possibly grow up in such an intense and abhorrence world Even though Frederick and his family fought through a lot of hard times Frederick was always looking for the best for himself and his family Frederick oversaw his problems and later became a notable writer Frederick Douglass family grew up in a time period that weve never or little experienced in our lifetime Douglas went through times where he practically starved himself had no where to live or even needed an extra set of clothes but had to wait until the end of the year He writes his book to enlighten people of that time period how difficult it was to become somebody Douglas fought for what he believed in and there was nothing that was going to get in between him and his goal Yes most black people during this time period ended up dying for trying such stupidest things such as running away but in the long run Douglas came out on top of things The best example that sums up my main point is how Douglas taught himself to read and write through hard times Douglass intension in writing his autobiography was to show how difficult it was to survive as a slave in this time Douglas had to overcome his problems by a means of teaching himself to write He later explained to people how well he could tell his life story by a way of writing a book about his life When reading this book I know he grasped my attention and I was really into his life because I really had no Idea how difficult it was to grow up in the south as a black person Yes this book wasnt written on a college level but he explained the basics in such a way as to where you can
