The loosening of restrictions of women was one of the most significant legacies of the 1920s Around this time woman are experiencing more freedoms such as the right to vote which was stated in the 19th Amendment The flapper now became the new icon of young woman The image she possessed was a saucy booze-drinking cigarette smoking flapper The flapper uprooted the foundations of tradition and morality Young woman began wearing less-restricted clothes such as baggy dresses and attire that flaunted and exposed the flesh They were wearing makeup and developed a new hair style similar to that of the boys This new style was called bobbed hair it was short yet had a feminine touch Coolness and rebellion of youths and woman were the signs of the 1920s The 1920s was the decade in which dating as we know it today was invented The flapper compared to her mother the Gibson girl or the earlier generation was viewed as a rebel and someone who defied conventions of acceptable feminine behavior The flapper was thought of as very fast and even as a brazen Flappers symbolized a revolution in fashion and a revolution in the morals of the younger generations The pictures show the bobbed hair style that was very popular in this time the salient features of womans clothing such as short skirts and dropped waistlines As seen in the pictures there was a wide variety of detail in womans clothing Some of the pictures are from advertisements in the 1920s the mind set of the era is evident and it can be derived that woman were revolutionizing They were no longer inferior to the male and confined in homes They became a figure active and more confident than ever before
