Organizing is establishing the internal organizational structure of the business The focus is on division coordination and control of tasks and the flow of information within the organization During this function management distributes responsibility and authority Each organization has an organizational structure In my opinion Human Resources are one of the most important departments within an organization PracticeWorks Inc had been growing at the phenomenal rate of 30 percent per year since the late 1990s primarily through acquisition While the human resources team in place was providing the very best professional management services they were capable because of the companys quick growth the HR personnel found themselves becoming ineffective in certain areas Information was not being given to employees in critical areas and to put it simply employees did not trust the HR department Due to the fact the HR department not functioning properly it was decided that the HR department had to be reorganized Upper management had identified where the HR function was falling short in several critical areas including compliance Sarbanes-Oxley controls recruiting and selecting top talent employee development cost controls internal customer service etc The company was purchased by Kodak and it was decided that an outside firm Corporate Performance Strategies would come in to help build an effective HR infrastructure for growth The acquisition also focused the CPS team on the following Effective transition and assimilation of a new PracticeWorks CEO from Kodak no productivity declines and employee retention during significant change of ownership and leadership CPS was invited into PracticeWorks and assigned the task of identifying problems and opportunities in the companys HR operations and developing action plans to solve the problems and leverage the opportunities The demanding audit confirmed clearly that major opportunities existed to enhance critical HR functions that were having a direct impact on the operations and profits of the overall company Evidence was clear from the audit that the company could reduce costs in the area
