Poetry lies its way to the truth-John Ciardi I chose Im Nobody Who Are You By Emily Dickinson to compare to the definition given by Emily Dickinson on what poetry is Dickinson said If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can warm me I know that is poetry If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off I know that is poetry These are the only ways I know it Is there any other way and I think Im Nobody Who Are You Does thisI think Im Nobody Who Are You Is a good example of this definition because it even on the first read it shakes the reader to the point were they realize that it is better to be a nobody than a somebody I concur with Dickinson on this point because if you are a somebody or a popular person for example a musician or an actor you make millions of dollars and a bunch of people will love and want to be you but you cant do anything because the media is watching your every move and if you do a single thing they know about it If you are somebody you have no privacy If you are a nobody you can do so much more with out ending up in some type of news for example if you go to a bar no cameraperson will snap photos or take video because of who you are they are not waiting there for you If you are nobody you can fly under the radarIm Nobody Who Are You Is a good example of this definition because it makes a person feel like their head was removed because of the icy truth that it held with in the message that is in the poem The truth that Emily Dickinson would have like to have been nobody which
