To the Virgins to Make Much of Time In this poem the image of a female is shown through the eyes of the reader The interpretation of the reader can depict the view of women differently in this poem In one sense this poem could be seen from a womens prospective towards other females One female is explaining that you should make the most of the time you have If this poem were seen through a mans eyes it could be interpreted that the man just wants to sleep with the girl or marry her Looking at this poem through a mans perspective it is easy to see that women are seen as inferior and weak A man is telling them how to live and what to do Then be not coy but use your time Tomorrow will be dying In a way it is at the same time putting women in a stereotypical role The poem puts women in a role were they are to marry and have kids and do so while they are young This is the role that is commonly depicted with women in todays society The theme of this poem is in a sense that people in general should make the most of the time they have Women are singled out in this poem for the writers a mans purposes The tone of this poem ties into the theme directly The author writes this poem in a sort of warning and degrading tone He warns women that if they do not use the time they have wisely to marry and have kids and in general live life that when they get old and ugly they may not have that chance anymore It is easy to see that the voice in this poem is an extension depicted through a mans eyes If it were written from a women prospective the poem would be the complete opposite
