Earth Day Every Day The dictionarys definition of the word respect is to regard to relate to to honor to have consideration for In the world today it appears that the word and its meaning has become obsolete Total disregard for life both for man and his planet has caused destruction in the air that we breathe that water that sustains all life forms and the plants trees and animals that exist today Such lack of consideration can be seen in men raping and killing both male and female children killing children and the destruction of the very means of sustaining life on planet Earth Children are taught through witnessing the actions of their parents Notice adults too rude to offer a thank you when served in a restaurant or given some service They walk outside the restaurant and toss their cigarette on the ground At most highway exits where there is a traffic light the cigarette butts are thrown along the burm proving the masses total disregard for the environment For those who believe the Biblical history of the Earths creation the Creator gave man dominion over the Earth Man was to have authority over it and the animals God gave it to all man to dwell upon to use and to care for The Creator can observe how with all the technology has managed to destroy most of the waters the rain forest and the slaughter of animals through greed Man and modern transportation chemicals and over use of many natural resources has all but destroyed the ozone that protects the earth from the radiation You hear the excuse everyone does it so Im only one I cant make a difference Every great feat in life began with the first step If each one of us have respect for the environment we can make a difference It can begin with respect for our brothers and sisters in the world wide family
