IntroductionThe aim of this report is based on the key learning from my eight weeks observations with a twenty seven months old girl which analysis the interpretation of the behaviour observed using psychological perspective and theories to further explain the behaviour Furthermore the skills required for my observation will be described in relation to my future practice stages of human development will be discussed including their relevance Finally I will reflect on my learning and how it applies to the social work professionChild DetailsFor anonymity the childs name will not be mentioned but will be referred to as Child A for the purpose of confidentiality as stated in GSCC 2002 section 2 Child A is a twenty seven months old girl from black Afro-Caribbean ethnicity who lives with her older brother and her parents in a three bedroom house She is born raised and have been living in the UK Child A is the second child in the family I would describe the composition of the family as middle class the observation took place at the family residence of Child A Child and Family Confidentiality Before this observation was conducted I familiarised myself with the Social Work codes of conduct GSCC 2002 to enable me carry out the observation in a professional way The child chosen for observation was my colleagues friends daughter I was invited to meet both parents and was able to explain the aim of my observation Having explained my aim I assured them that confidentiality will be maintained their daughters identity will not be disclosed I reassured the couple that their privacy will be respected and the daughters wellbeing will be paramount throughout Consequently I was given a written consent by both parents with approved signaturesSkills required for structured observationIn order to carry out the observation the skills and preparation required were planning respect partnership work reflection and listening skills During my observation I observed Child As communication
