The Brothers Karamazov Children Theme The theme of children and their innocence is evident throughout the course of the novel The Brothers Karamazov especially with the many relationships between parents and their children The main relationship depicted is that of the Karamazov brothers with their father Fyodor This kinship greatly contrasts the other significant relationships such as Zossimas with Alexie and Snegirevs with his children However the paternal feelings from Zossima and Snegirev are very similar and respectable therefore in turn respect is overflowing from their children Although there is still respect and harmony is there still innocence It is certain that innocence has faded into depravity with Fyodors children but it may still linger in the children of the more honorable men This innocence is comparable to that of humankinds in the face of God and these relationships can imitate the god and humankind relationship such that god is the father and human kind the children in both positive and negative fashions Fyodor Karamazov was very little other than a biological father to his sons He wanted nothing to do with them unless it was for his personal benefit or enjoyment All the brothers were educated under someone elses jurisdiction and financed for as well Resentment was aroused here especially with Ivan who always felt guilty living off of others Alexie was always loved and appreciated with the exception of his father yet he knew his place was not in others homes as well Fyodor had admired Alexie who is a well-liked character but he never cared enough to let that change his attitude Yet Alexie stills shows respect for him since he is his father none the less he is frank with him Ivan and Dmitry resent him greatly in a way that one would resent god if his life was displeasing but Alexies nature loves God unconditionally and he brings this philosophy back to his father
