The theme is the novel Of Mice and Men is the need for a companion and mankinds weaknesses Almost everyone in the novel at one time has showed that they need a friend or someone close to talk to Everyone on that farm feels lonely But the hardest part for the people on this farm is feeling only when there is people there with you with the same situation that knows each other secrets The characters struggles for close friends in this novel suggest that everyone lives life feeling lonely at one point or another Lennie and George are very close companions Based on actions that George takes it shows that George cares a lot for Lennie Lennie seemed to always obey George but on page 70 Crooks makes fun of Lennie and makes him feel ghastly Lennie then lost his trust in George and Lennies weakness was exposed No matter what how close they were before deep inside he was corrupt and needed someone he can really trust Trust is not the only thing that the companion needs in order for the friendship to be secured In this novel no one successfully over came hisher feeling of loneliness In the end George lost his best friend which suggest that no matter what he will always have the loneliness feeling inside All these evidence suggest that loneliness is a beings weakness The title of this novel is Of Mice and Men has 2 significant nouns in it The first part is men The novel is based upon the relationship of men on the farm The whole farm symbolizes the world in which the farmers are living on and inside the farm the men demonstrated the weakness of men kind the feeling of loneliness The mice in the begnning of the book symbolize the Lennies strength He killed the mouse on accident it shows his innocence and later on Curleys wife is the mice She gets
