The third module of Process Elements presented me with a variety of content and activities that focused on useful learning techniques This allowed me to extend my understanding of effective information-search and learning strategies Due to my regular participation in online conferencing in addition to the knowledge from the reading material of Process Elements and my experience from other courses I have developed a good understanding about new research skills about my own concept of learning and the technique of concept mapping about how to proficiently memorize information and about my own learning style and strategies The first thing that I have learned during this module of Process Elements is how to effectively conduct online research Unit 1 presented me with a variety of search strategies which proved useful during the activity of McLuhans Research Challenge Conducting research on search engines and online databases I achieved useful results for my Teams Working Bibliography by using Boolean Operators in my search terms SFU 2002 I also learned that while performing online research I should Know when to use upper case versus lower case experiment with different search terms be as specific as possible and use more than one search tool SFU Surrey 2002 Another thing that I learned about while carrying out the McLuhans Research Challenge was proper APA citing I thought that I was aware of how to properly reference a source but during Unit 1 I discovered that there are different ways of citing different kinds of resources For example a book is cited differently than an online article I applied my learnings of proper APA styling while doing my referencing for an online article for McLuhans Research Challenge as indicated in Artifact 1 This Artifact can be compared to Artifact 2 which presents another bibliography that I did prior to the knowledge of proper APA style Artifact 2 displays incorrect application of APA style because it does not follow the
