In familys with two children or more there is typically a working father and a stay at home mom Who would you say has the harder job the one staying at home or the one who goes out and supplies the income for the family According to a recent article Stay at home moms deserve high pay the ones staying home would earn 131471 annually if they were working some where else Not only do they work the standard forty hours a week but they also put in an extra sixty hours on nights and weekends being on call 247 When over five million mothers were asked to come up with job titles they fall under the list included teacher driver housekeeper cook chief executive officer nurse and general maintenance worker The motive behind this article is to disprove the theory that stay at home moms are a cop-out and its the womens way out of the work force It also brings attention to how difficult raising a child is as well as taking care of the house Personally I was very interested in learning how much a stay-at-home mom would make if they received a paycheck Along with the majority I assumed that staying home would be easier than going into the work field and made the decision earlier on that I wouldnt do it I would still not choose to stay at home if given the opportunity but nonetheless I can now give more credit to those who do Vocabulary Hypothetical- Of relating to or based on a hypothesis Compensation- Something such as money given or received as payment or reparation as for a service or loss Adage- A saying that sets forth a general truth and that has gained credit through long use Validation- To declare or make legally valid Predecessor- One who precedes another in time especially in holding an office or position Discussion Questions
