Unequal Pay Equals Discrimination I guess it is true what the Declaration of Independence says-All men are created equal Declaration When this was written it was believed that the implication of men was mankind Everyone is considered mankind so why are men still treated more superior than women in some circumstances such as in the workplace In some cases they get paid less than men for performing the same job Women can be just as capable as men and therefore should not have to be trapped in their title of housewives forever be treated unequally and suffer under the superiority title of men any longer Even after a law was passed in 1963 for equal pay some women are still not getting the wages they rightfully deserve In 1998 women were paid 73 cents for every dollar men received Equal Pay Imagine being a single mother working to support a couple kids Losing 27 cents for every dollar your male co-workers receive can really add up It can make the difference of being able to put food on the table one week or not being able to afford it Women need to get equal pay not only because it is ethical but also because women just like men need to support themselves and their family Treating individuals differently can be a good thing but one should treat them in a different way because of the difference in personality and not because of their gender treating people the same is not equal treatment if they are not the same Tannen 463 Also just because women and men differ in personality doesnt imply that they differ in work ability and quality If male bosses are using this excuse for a reason to pay their women employees less than their male employees they need to realize women are equals and stop acting immorally
