Time is the true teller of a writing master Surviving the test of time is a challenge overcome by few Robert Frost is one of the few poets to survive this almost insurmountable challenge The Road Not Taken is perhaps the most well known poem in America The poem is a living testament to Frosts writing skills However there are some who question Frosts greatness claiming there were possibilities and opportunities which were passed up because Frost was not as heavily critiqued as fellow poets and writers of his time The Road Not Taken is one of the poems that made Frost a poetical genius What ultimately makes Frosts best poems valuable is their dynamic view of our daily life according to Robert Johnson 2 This could not be better illustrated than in The Road Not Taken However there are other reasons why Frost was truly a poetical artist For one Frost was great because he never attached himself to any of the great movements of his time such as the Georgian movement towards nature Jennings 1 The power and passion of his poetry has been felt all over the world Time has been the ultimate testament to Frosts poetry as he had withstood its engulfing grasp Frost has never been in or out of fashion but he has always been respected Jennings 1 Frosts poetry often carries a similar image or symbol The visible sign of Frosts preoccupationis the recurrent imageof dark woods and trees according to Mr Ogilvie 2 An image of nature in particular trees relate to a darker side of life along with the choices we all face in life This is well represented in The Road Not Taken and Stopping by the Woods on a Snow Evening The two roads that part in the wood represent a critical choice between two ways of life Ogilvie 3 This factor this repetitive theme might be a large part of what links Frost
