The Young Philosophers Tale As you can very well see I am young and inexperienced in philosophy I have heard the teachers and read the books But lack wisdom and profound outlooks For this reason my story which I hope will please Is not drawn from Aristotle or Sophocles But from personal experience and a lad I knew Who was not much different than me and you I hope my story does not offend For this result I would never intend But the nature of people and their religions Has a certain tendency to create divisions I am now ready to proceed With starting my story like a seed Thats ready to grow and can no longer delay Telling you of a lad who lost his way He was born without a father To a mother who would rather Garden on a Sunday Than hear what the lord had to say His mothers attitude is pertinent To my story and its remaining content Her name was Darwinia and this Is nothing close to a coincidence She was angry at God And convinced he was flawed For taking her husband And leaving no land All of this prattle simply means Her son didnt get to eat a whole lotta beans And never went to church Instead he walked along trails within the birch And now were are back to her son Who in this story is the important one His name was Charles and he was quite smart Around the house he did his part The conflict in our story begins When other children tell young Charles of his sins You dont go to church you dont say your prayers Youre going to a place worse than any of your nightmares This is the first time Charles had heard of this place He couldnt believe he was such a disgrace
