Driving Intoxicated Driving a vehicle while you are intoxicated from alcohol is one of the most dangerous things you can do There is a lot of researched evidence that show that performance and reaction are affected by alcohol When you drive under the influence youre not only putting yourself in danger but your passengers too You also put the other people on the road endanger as well as the pedestrians Last year more then one million people were injured in alcohol related crashes Alcohol slows down the brain and slows the body reaction Risks of drinking are accidents and violence He effects of alcohol are poor coordination slurred speech double vision decrease of all self control loss of consciousness and even death The more a person drinks the more their ability to make important decisions become impaired After just one drink a driver can lose the ability to be able to operate a vehicle You can and will be arrested for being illegally intoxicated and trying to operate a vehicle Every state throughout the country has a legal limit too how much a person can drink and still get behind the wheel Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for young adults and for teens Drivers between the ages 16-20 are 20 times as likely to have a crash compared to other drivers The two main reasons why teens are at a higher risk for being in a crash is this one lack of driving experience and their tendency to take risks while driving Teens like to drive faster but they dont have the control over the car like more experienced drivers Teens are insufficient when it comes to judgment to avoid a crash In addition most teens drive at night which is more difficult Teens are more likely to be influenced or pressured by other peers stress and distractions This leads to driving behaviors such as speeding drive under the influence
