It is Immoral to Smoke We live in a society where it is normal for a person to smoke We as a society however are ignorant in our ways That too is immoral because we do not think before we do things No one really thinks before they smoke I have experience myself When I have smoked I did not care about dying or not I did not care whether the person I was smoking next to was going to develop cancer either It is immoral to make the wrong judgments It is our duty as human beings to preserve our intellect our bodies our lives and the lives of everyone else My grandfather was one of those people who after a long day at work came home and smoked three to four packs Smoking was relaxing and calm for him He smoked on a regular basis for 10 years After he quit smoking he exercised ate right and lived a very healthy life In 1999 my grandfather developed lung cancer Even though he lived a very healthy life cancer was still able to develop in him After a year of developing cancer my grandfather suffered a horrible death For five days he could not eat nor could he drink Cancer took his life but in actuality it was smoking that took his life According to Elizabeth Whelan ScD MPH Consumers know only in the generic sense that cigarettes are dangerous To be truly informed about the dangers of tobacco consumers must have answers to concerns like what the specific risks of smoking are what the danger of smoking is compared with other life risks how much and how long someone has to smoke before this risk increases and what other life-style factors might influence the risks of smoking Doctors against the tobacco industry provide a clear incentive to the cigarette companies to act more responsibly in divulging and quantifying the risks
