Mans Treatment of Horses Horses of all breeds are used all over the world for the entertainment of man Many of the events such as racing and the rodeo obtain some form of abuse on horses Abuse is a major issue here but there is an underlying and more profound issue that needs to be addressed first Why does man think he can dominate the horses After this question is answered and understood it will be easier to see why man abuses one of Gods most beautiful creatures Why does man think he can dominate horses This implication of domination first starts in Genesis God blessed them saying to them Be fruitful multiply fill the earth and conquer it Be masters of the fish of the sea the birds of heaven and all living animals of the earth12 This account is telling humans that it is their duty to be masters of the animal kingdom This is a very domineering attitude and it puts humans above animals The next question is Why does man think he is better than animals Genesis staged the attitude of man dominating animals but Kant was the one that stated that animals could never have moral worth Animals are not persons because they are not rational self-conscious beings capable of grasping the moral law31 Kant says we do not owe animals anything because they have no souls Who are we to say that animals do not have souls Just because animals do not communicate in the same language as humans does not mean that they do not have souls Since man believes that animals have no souls then they must not have feelings interests or emotions They then believe that it is justifiable to treat animals the way they do The taming and conquering of horses has been mans goal for centuries After he has conquered this wild beast he then uses his for his pleasure and entertainment He
