"This is such an interesting issue, and your take on the importance of focusing on the past is a strong one. Including examples both from the current political climate and a cautionary work of fiction gives your essay a nice, broad range of support, even for such a short essay. Still, there are a few issues that should be addressed to strengthen the essay. The transition from the introduction to the first supporting paragraph is jarring. Consider writing an introduction for your second paragraph explaining that the struggles of the Black Lives Matter movement demonstrate a failure to examine lessons from the past. Your transition in the following paragraph is stronger; however, this paragraph gets caught up in some details about the story that can be confusing for a reader who isn't familiar with it. For instance, you mention a sign that gets changed due to the main character's actions, but as there is no previous mention of the sign, your reader has no reference for its significance. It would be enough to say that the butterfly's death has caused a chain reaction that alters the future.

Your conclusion should be expanded to thoroughly sum up your arguments, and the essay needs to be proofread to address some grammar mistakes and awkward/confusing sentences."
