Evolution in Schools Today A topic of confusion has again arisen in our society today even though it has been around for a while It is the topic of evolution and whether it should be taught in schools to our children in the present day Some educators and scientists have strong opinions while others are still debating the issue My name is Christine Hamilton the principal of High School America I advocate teaching the evolution theory in schools Evolution is the theory which states that humans have evolved over time from a one celled organism I have a strong opinion on the subject of evolution and I would like to share with you some of the reasons why I feel so strongly about the positive outlook on the theory of evolution Evolution is a good way to teach why we are here It tells us why the Earth is the way it is according to the theory about small single-celled organisms developing into humans step by step Evolution is a necessity for children to know who are learning about the world today Children need to know how they became humans and how they appeared on the Earth Without knowledge of the evolution of life students will not understand where they and their world have come from and they will lack valuable insight for making decisions about the future of their species and its environment Charles Darwins theory is the best way to explain the account of evolution Even though many people already believe Charles Darwins theory as truth it is still a theory this means it is an unproved assumption If it is taught in school it can be made clear that it is a theory which means it doesnt have to be truly accepted by the children Instead it should be an idea presented to students through scientific theory They can then make their own choices on whether they want to believe
