The Dangers of Drinking Drinking alcohol is one of the most common ways of life in todays society In fact people who do not drink are very few and far between According to the Issues and Controversies on File Alcohol is one of the most consumed beverages in the United States It is doing nothing but damaging things to this society and to the lives of people Although some people feel that alcohol should not be banned it should be because it damages peoples health and thinking it causes wrecks and accidents and it can tear families apart People that are in favor of drinking alcohol say that it is okay as long as the consumer is responsible How can a drinker be responsible if his thinking is affected by just one drink of alcohol The use of alcohol is partly to blame in many domestic violence cases crimes and accidents A person can do something totally out of his nature by alcohol affecting his thinking Peoples thought processes and decisions can be altered whether they have had just one drink or twelve drinks Drinking not only hurts the person doing it it also can hurt the people around them Like the old saying goes If you play with fire youre gonna get burned Although many people think alcohol is no harm it does much damage to a persons health and thinking Alcohol has been proven to increase the risk for diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver digestive - 2 tract diseases different types of cancers and certain neuralgic disorders According to the Issues and Controversies on File Cancers of the mouth tongue pharynx and esophagus are found more frequently in alcoholics than nonalcoholics About seventy-five per cent of esophageal cancers in the United States are attributed to excessive use of alcohol Not only does alcohol affect a persons health it also can alter his thinking As said
