There are many ways to tell a story Some cultures start telling their story by saying let me tell you a story In my cultures before the storyteller begin telling her story she would say Krik The audience would then say Krak Since I am both American and Haitian I must use both saying Krik Krak Let me tell you a story a story about my family tree Sajess Joseph was my fathers name He was born in Gonaive Haiti right outside Port-au Prince the capital of Haiti Back in those days life was not too hard and not too easy My mother told me that my grandfather was given a farm by my grandmothers family when they got get married The farm consisted pigs goat chickens and horses Since Haiti is a tropical place my grandfather also had mango trees along with banana trees and avocado trees Life in Haiti was fairly comfortable if you knew how to do business My grandfather was a former and my grandmother was a sells women My grandmother would go to several opened markets a week to sell some of the crops my grandfather grew The most disgusting market was called Kwabasal Kwabasal was dirty muddy and often infested with flies fleas and ticks do to the animals people were trying to sell Kwabasal wasnt a place to be if you were a high class Haitian but for my grandparents no place was better Haiti was a place of most people atropernore ether had their own business or they were farmers and sells women like my grandparents When I ask my mother about atropernership in Haiti she said people would sell whatever they can get their hands on some women send their kids to school by selling bread and oatmeal others send their kids by to school selling fried bananas We Haitians care about our childrens education Education was very important to Haitian parents sending their
