Learning the Process of Understanding and Writing History

This is an essay written to fulfill the first assignment of a European History class. The author wrote about the various history classes they have taken since grade school and how social studies, geography, literature, and religion classes have all had historical elements. The author then goes on to discuss the importance of breaking history down to understand it. Next, the author suggests that a chronological timeline does history a disservice and that people should study history by geographical areas, time periods, isolated events, or sets of events. Last, the author points out the importance of learning about parts of history that are romanticized fallacies. Finally, the author notes how they want to learn not to be easily swayed by common biases and preconceived notions.
