The novel Wuthering Heights is intricately written and includes a diversity of love and hate between characters Wuthering Heights was first published in London in 1847 and was written by Emily Bronte Emily Bronte was born in 1818 and lived in the parsonage of the town of Haworth Yorkshire She resided with her brother two sisters and her father Reverend Bronte Her relatives were all writers and poets They lived in a bleak and overpoweringly religious town and there wasnt very much for the Bronte children to do to keep themselves occupied So they began writing and created a library of journals stories poems and plays about themselves Emily briefly left her town of Haworth to attend boarding schools but it wasnt until she was twenty-four when she attended school for a year in Brussels with her sister Charlotte In 1846 Charlotte convinced her sisters to publish their work Emily used the pseudonym Ellis Bell until the second edition of her novel was published in 150 but she had already been dead for two years The novel includes the beginning of new life and the ending of others The story begins with the unexpected arrival of Mr Lockwood the new tenant of Thrushcross Grange There he meets Heathcliff his landlord Catherine Linton and Hareton Earnshaw He knows nothing about this family but the story soon unravels when he arrives at his own home and he befriends his maid Ellen She informs Mr Lockwood of all that has happened from past to present He is attracted to Catherine and revolted by Heathcliffs morose demeanor He would like to help Catherine but is called away on business When he returns six months later he discovers that Heathcliff has died Hareton has inherited his Uncles fortune and that Hareton and Catherine are living happily in love together There are a few key characters that this novel could not do without They include Heathcliff Catherine Earnshaw Catherine Linton
