Through collecting the data it was determined that by increasing the sample size the overall results did not improve It can be seen in Table 2 that the percentage for green barley plants decreased as the sample size increased and that the percentage for the albino barley plants increased as the sample size increased Although the results were not what was expected they still support the prediction that both parents were heterozygous The observed results were validated by the crosses made It was evident in the data that both genotypes of the parents were heterozygous dominant as there was clearly a recessive gene in the parents genotype considering that the phenotype of the offspring demonstrated the recessive gene which was albino Two phenotypes were seen in the data In the Group Punnet 91 of the plants were green and the other 9 was albino As can be seen in Graph 1 the albino barley plants on average did not perform well when growing The albino barley plants started at a lower point in the growth than the green and did not show an increase after the second day The average growth of the green barley plants corroborated with the prediction as they grew steadily over the five days On average the two pigmented plants demonstrated a growth rate of 668 over a period of five days It is clear that when plants contain chlorophyll and therefore have the necessary pigment to photosynthesise they grow more consistently The albino plants which contain no chlorophyll grew at an average rate of 949 The albino plants proved to be very inconsistent with their growth as one grew rapidly and the other began to shrink over time The trend displayed in both Graph 1 and part of Graph 2 correlates the current theory that chlorophyll is necessary for consistent growth The albino plant that grew from the Group Punnet grew as expected yet the albino plant
