Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to find out which of the five stain cleaners works best on four common stains My hypothesis is that Shout will work best for most of the stains My procedure is to stain the different pieces of cloth that are the same size with different stains Then I will try to get rid of the stains with different detergents and find out what detergent works best on different stains The results of the experiment were that Shout had more effect on more of the stains than any of the other stain cleaners My hypothesis was that Shout would work best on most of the stains The results indicate that this hypothesis should be accepted Literature Review Introduction The majority of the community stains their clothes at times and it would be helpful to know which stain cleaner would have the most effect on the stain they have accidentally gotten Soap Soap is a waxy solid It is made by combining a fat or oil with a strong base such as sodium hydroxide Saponification is the reaction between a fat and a base that produces soap The chemical formula for one soap molecule is Cl7H35CO2Na also known as sodium stearate Soap molecules are made up of many atoms A soap molecule has two ends One end is attracted to dirt oil or grease and the other end is attracted to water When the hands are rubbed together the soap molecules stick to the dirt oil grease etc and when the hands are rinsed it
