Against School Uniforms Picture yourself wearing all black clothing you have multi-colored hair piercings everywhere chains dangling from your jeans and youre walking down the hall at your school with a bunch of your friends that dress the same To some people it may look like a fashion statement but to a school in Philadelphia it was more than just a fashion statement it was a possible threat of violence A group of sophomores both male and female were forced down to the office by one of their hall monitors and were threatened by their principal to either go home and change or be suspended The group of students was outraged and decided to take the suspension over changing the way theyve always dressed This issue became a big deal because the school started targeting everyone that dressed in a way that looked violent Finally the school gave up on suspending all of the students that dressed inappropriately and forced a school uniform upon the students Parents were outraged T hey felt that their children should be able to wear what they want not forced into wearing some ridiculous outfit that they dont want to pay for Schools today arent in the best condition They are having many problems such as teasing violence discrimination cliques and poverty Many schools feel that one way to stop some of these problems is to assign a school uniform There is much to say about whether having or not having a mandatory school uniform would help these problems The main question that seems to be coming to a lot of the schools attention is will uniforms actually help these problems enough to dismiss the hurt that they would cause Many feel that the uniforms will do more harm than they would help Having uniforms would stop the teasing and discrimination about clothing but there are so many other things that people can find to tease
