In both the junior high as well as the high school I attended students were expected toparticipate in various health classes in order to meet graduation requirements Because ofthese classes I was required to take I consider myself to be somewhat knowledgeable onthe subject of human health I learned about the six dimensions of health and understoodthat there was more to being a healthy person than being well physically I was alsotaught that I have a great deal of control over my wellness I was taught that by makingpositive or negative lifestyle choices I would be controlling my level of wellness I knowquite a bit about what I should and shouldnt do so why do I still make negative choicesThe first dimension of health that I learned about is that of physical wellness Ilearned that exersize is very important to a person who wants to be physically healthy Iknow that I can increase my life expectancy by exercising regularly and that I can alsodecrease my risk of dying from cardiovascular disease but I just cant bring myself to doit I have never had a problem with my weight I can eat tons and not gain a pound so Inever felt it was necessary to exersize regularly Perhaps realizing how much it willbenefit me will inspire me I would love to increase my resistance to fatigue and givemyself the ability to recover quicker from injury or illness I just need to realize that myphysical wellness is more important that lounging in front of the television watching myfavorite television show While as of now I have made to negative lifestyle choice of notexercizing I have made a possitive choice by not smoking I hear about how smoking isvery dangerous and that it causes cardiovascular disease lung disease numerous cancerscirculatory problems and birth defects On television and in my health classes we are toldtime and time again that smoking can kill you I believe on of the smartest
