War what is it good for Absolutely nothing In the past year we have pushed aside what started out as a war on terrorism and have chosen to begin a new war We have chosen to fight a new evil as President George W Bush said in his address to the nation regarding his axis of evil last spring First something needs to be cleared up Iraq is not a new evil it has been around for a long time In that time there have always been problems with it Bushs father started a war with Iraq over ten years ago which was never finished The war which his father started should not be finished and America should focus on what it set out to do which was to stop terrorism not to bring down Iraq The first reason why we should not go to war with Iraq is that an attack on Iraq would constitute an attack on the Charter of the United Nations which the United States has used to back itself up so far along this path to war The United States would be in violation of several provisions beginning with Article 1 Section 4 which states All members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state In laymens terms meaning we should not invade any countries with the intent of changing there political system which they are doing Suppose then that international law should not stand in the way when circumstances demand immediate violent action which it does Such circumstances would exist if there were in the language of our own Supreme Court a clear and present danger represented by the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein There are facts and there are conjectures about Iraq These facts and conjectures have been used and chewed up so many time by the media thats the
