Bridget's feedback:
"This essay, while organized and structured logically, consistent in position, and showing control of diction and tone, falters at the level of ethos and credibility, such as when you cite a public opinion poll as evidence of "why" people are on welfare or throw numbers at the reader to make more palatable regressive welfare queen stereotypes. This is not a problem of your position or opinion but of credibility. You will need to shift this discussion out of the realm of pathos and dog-whistle language via real, and properly sourced, evidence; if you do not, for example, know which think tanks (for example) align with your position, more research and work with the literature and conversation on this topic will be required to develop your authorial ethos beyond personal opinion.
Other tasks will include properly incorporating quotations, rather than dropping them down to stand as their own sentences, and making sure all citation formatting is correct, including the surrounding punctuation."
