Bridget's feedback:
"This is a lively piece of writing that demonstrates your engagement with Wells' life and work, as well as your own work as the researcher. Including a works cited or bibliography (check your style guide or instructor's guidelines) will cement the reader's understanding of that work. As regards the citations, make sure to indicate indirect sources in the parenthetical citations, not just the signal phrases (as when you quote Wells via a source), so your reader can follow who is speaking; again, check your style guide for how to format this. (Another element to check with your style guide will be preferred terminology for race: don't change quotations, but you may need to shift some of this draft's current usage, though this may further depend on your rhetorical situation, e.g., your positionality, and your instructor's expectations.)
Other aspects of presentation and formatting will need to be addressed as you move toward a final draft. Some of the paragraphs are randomly split by a line break, so make sure to tidy those up as you also move the page formatting into alignment with your style guide. Indents and double-spacing, more generally, will be really helpful for your reader, allowing them to focus on the ideas being presented. Similarly, a careful proofread to clean up errors, including comma splices, typos like missing words, and other issues that impact clarity, will create more effective communication with the reader and ethos. Finally, use "Wells" (not "Ida") as part of a more academic and formal tone."
