My personal narrative though it may not be viewed as compelling to readers was a compelling experience to me as I went through it The setting in my narrative simply locates me in the woods somewhere in a wilderness program However I did not give any specific geographical location or exact time period aside from stating that I was a young adult The setting therefore is neither explicitly stated nor implicit in my story Within my very vague setting there is a more defined setting of what the program referred to as a solo My description of a solo places me by myself in the woods for 3 days far from anyone and any civilization There are no other human characters that were physically present during my experience and thus no humans aside from a mental reflection of people in my narrative The other characters in my narrative are non-human including a large crowd of cows and a few owls During a period of reflection that I included in my narrative I discussed the memories of my father and the difficulty of missing the person whom I was in a relationship with at the time of the experience Thus their presence was established in my narrative as a memory that was induced because of random things in my surrounding environment and not as a physical presence The basic form of my narrative does not exactly follow a stereotypical example of a redemptive or character changing story Thus there is no clear initiating event that is discussed and there are no obvious consequences of plot changes or even a clear resolution through transformation The element of setting is repeated throughout the narrative as I frequently describe my awareness of my existence alone in the woods More than once I note that there were no common distractions I also discussed more than a few times about how I truly understood isolation It could be inferred by the
