I resisted all the way states Jane Eyre an independent strong-willed woman in Victorian society who refuses to stoop down to the harsh way women were treated in her time period as well the obligations she is somewhat forced to belong to as well as follow Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and Jane Eyre An Introduction by Joyce Carol Oates both demonstrate examples of Janes liberated attitude and support her bravery of going against the Victorian Women way of life Jane Eyre takes place in England in the early nineteenth century where she grows up with the ill treatment of her wicked aunt Mrs Reed in Gateshead continues her life at the under-privileged boarding school Lowood and pursues her career as a governess and eventually finds love at Thornfield Hall Jane faces many hardships in her life journey but refuses to let the way of the society she lives in stop her Frederick R Karl states Jane Eyre does not buckle under ill treatment but instead grows in stature as she defies persecution Jane exemplifies this behavior in the novel when her aunt Mrs Reeds ill treatment forces Jane to mature and grow in Lowood and Janes discovery of the insane Bertha leading to Janes confidence to deny a proposal from St John due to the nonexistence of love Mrs Reeds ill treatment forced Jane to mature and grow in Lowood school due to Mrs Reed abuse of Jane forcing her to grow independent and in result Jane developing an individualistic attitude as she matures at Lowood and does not allow conflicts to affect her Due to the death of both of Janes parents Jane Eyre was forced to live with her fathers sister Mrs Reed Mrs Reed had three children John Georgiana and Eliza Reed who also disrespected Jane and treated her like an animal For example as Mrs Reed was comforting her children Jane approached and she states Me she had dispensed
