In To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus Finch is shown to the reader as an ideal lawyer being very attentive precise and understanding This is one of the last questions Mr Finch asks Mr Heck Tate it is after Mr Tate explains Maywells injuries Mr Finch knows how to get the right information out of the people he is questioning He asks Mr Tate a simple question Which side again Heck The right side Mr Finch but she had more bruises Lee 225 Asking this question Atticus addressed a very important fact He asked which side did Maywell have a black eye Mr Tate answered the same as he previously did her right If thinking back to when Tom Robinson had difficulties putting and leaving on his left hand on the Bible this does not make any sense because that would mean that Tom Robinson hit her with his right arm This does mean that Mr Finch got a good answer to defend his client Tom Robinson Atticus is also a good lawyer considering that he is understanding Mr Finch had represented Mr Cunnigham in court and he was not able to pay Mr Finch back This thought happens in the middle of Miss Caroline and Scouts conversation over why or why not she should not give money to a Cunnigham Atticus does his job because he cares for the good of the people not for the money and this is shown in the following quote Mr Finch I dont know when Ill ever be able to pay you I Scout asked Atticus if Mr Cunnigham would ever pay us Not in money Atticus said but before the years out Ill have been paid you watch Lee 27 Certain people only have a career for the money that they will get but Atticus does not Atticus is willing to work for even the poorest people in ton as long as they agree to pay him in
