"The essay is off to a good start, but there is a lack of detail that keeps us from understanding what the purpose of the essay really is. It could be about Akhmatova, modernism, or Requiem, but the focus throughout the paper shifts between the three, and it is hard to tell what the main idea and thesis of the essay is. As well, the description/analysis of the work and the poet are fairly surface-level. Some more detail regarding the plot of the poem, it's style and construction, and its role in Russian literature may help clarify some of the key points that are made about it. In many ways, a good way to improve this essay would be to imagine writing it as if you were writing it to someone who has never heard of Akhmatova, her poem, or the era of Russian history that her poem is about to help hone in on the details that are missing from this draft."
