Washing dishes thats a womans job Ha-ha thats not what we were taught From a young age we were taught how to be independent our father believed that a man should know how to cook and clean just as much as he should learn how to fix a car or build a house Of course there are still others who believe that washing dishes clothes or mopping is for women I am still astonished to this day that people have these sexist beliefs Personally I disagree my brothers and I were taught to do all the things considered to be a womans job and I believe we are better off knowing how to survive on our own and I am grateful to my father for instilling these beliefs Our dad taught to sweep mop wash dishes wash clothes and cook He also taught us to paint build things out of wood to change a flat to change the oil of a vehicle to change the spark plugs how to start a fire how to fish and other things We were constantly given chores and when we would complain our dad would ask us What are you going to do when you move out and live on your own call your mom and ask her to come over Of course at the time I was about ten and wasnt too concerned about living on my own so I would reply yes with a nod He would laugh and say Wow you really have a lot to learn sonI have a friend whose parents were raised back when women worked inside and men outside Although I was raised with different beliefs than his father I can honestly say I respect the man because he does all he can for his wife and children My friend Abdiel was raised to believe sweeping mopping and washing dishes is a womans job When he was hungry he would wait
